Note that illustrator Arthur Rackham was not born until 1868. He was a prodigy, but not such as to illustrate a book 17 years before his worldly debut.
Agree that the images are a bit dark, which may be because they are reprints from the original edition.

Good quality, although the colour plates are a bit dark.
But a later edition with only 7 colour plates, instead of the original edition from 1922 with 16 colour plates.
